Excess baggage - don't regret your winter break!

By Nandini on 15 Oct | 0 comments

As the nights draw in, our thoughts turn to finding some winter sun.

But a winter break is no excuse to piling on the pounds. Don't come back from holiday with excess baggage - your duty free goods should be the only thing weighing you down!

You should of course have a great time and do have fun eating the delights on offer, but know when enough is enough. Offset any treats by being active - take advantage of gym facilities, walk as much as possible, use the pool and of course there is always the beach.

Lost your motivation?

Lost your motivation and fed up because you can't see results from your workout routine?

You may want to consider your exercise regime: is it the right one for what you want to achieve, are you exercising enough?

What about your diet - does it contain good sources of carbohydrates, proteins and fats? Are the portions right?

It's good to get advice from a fitness professional before embarking on a fitness regime so they can advise you on the appropriate exercises and where appropriate on nutritional advice.

No such thing as a quick fix!

By Nandini on 01 Jun | 0 comments

There is no quick fix to a healthy and fit body, so ditch the 'faddy' diets and 'miracle' slimming pills. These may be quick, but not necessarily sustainable in the long term.

Eat regularly and sensibly and exercise for at east 30 mins daily to maintain a good level of health and well-being.

Be kind to your body and it will be good to you!

If you eat like a champion, you'll feel like a champion and you'll perform like a champion. Eat right, think positive = results!

Love handles

Blow those handles out of the water with this super move!

This will work on the inner and outer side muscles.

Lie on your right side.

Stretch your right arm out in front of you and maintain your balance by placing your left hand on front of your hip.

Raise both your legs and shoulders off the floor.

Return to start position, but do not rest on the floor.

Do 12 lifts and then repeat on your left side.

Snack smart

If you are feeling hungry between meals, think before raiding the cookie jar.

Try a small fistful of nuts for a low GI energy boost. Nuts such as walnuts, brazil nuts, cashews or almonds are packed full of good value nutrients and are a great source of protein.

Walnuts - Omega 3
Brazil Nuts - Selenium
Cashews - Vitamin K, iron, good fats essential for heart health
Almonds - Vitamin E, fibre, calcium

These are just a few, so get to know your nuts!
